What is LiFi Technology ?
LiFi is Light Fidelity.
Imagine a world connected by visible light. LiFi achieves connectivity between different devices using light as a the medium.
This is done by switching the source between high(ON) and low intensity(OFF) to transmit digital data as bits and bytes to the receiving device which has a simple photodetector.
LiFi uses visible light as its communication channel. Visible light doesn't have any interference issues with other radio frequencies and biologically safe. LiFi could compete with WiFi in applications where minimal RF interference is required such as military, security and medicine. WiFi operates at 2 or 5 GHz frequencies which when compared to visible light are thousand times smaller. This means LiFi signals have better bandwidth and data density than WiFi. LiFi therefore can suipport more number of users than WiFi. LiFi speeds are again limited by the modulation speeds of LEDs.
